This is a pending patent on:

A writing instrument holder. This invention is basically a convenient pen and pencil lanyard made from a clip, fabric tubing, and shrink tubing material. This invention is patent pending so making, using, offering for sale, importing, or selling the invention without permission will be prohibited upon patent issuance.

It was created because:

Pens and pencils can cause significant damage if they are allowed to entered sensitive equipment. A quick and easy method to tether writing instruments was needed to prevent this potential damage from occurring.

The benefits of using such a device:

It is easy to use and can hold items such as pens, pencils, flashlights, screwdrivers or any other suitably shaped light weight object. The swivel head allows easy use of the instrument while a convenient clip allows the device to be attached to a variety of fixed objects to prevent its loss. The device can also be used as a color identifier or be combined with a form of individual identification.

How to use the device:

The first device described in the patent requires that the writing utensil be inserted into a fabric tube and then the specified shrink tubing is applied around the instrument. The second device allows for easy insertion of a writing instrument and uses friction to hold the item in place.
